A 1,400 sq ft ground-floor showroom fitted out in six weeks, working nights so the neighbouring units stayed open.
A retail fit-out is a programme problem before it is a design problem. The landlord allowed six weeks and the units either side stayed trading, so the noisy work ran between 10pm and 6am and the finishing during the day.
The display walls are a demountable system rather than built-in joinery, so the tenant can change the layout for a new season without touching the shell. Lighting is on three separate circuits — general, display and window — because a showroom needs the window bright long after the floor has gone quiet.
